Academic Profile
Dr. Renate Kock
Educational Scientist, Habilitation Candidate, and Translator
- Academic Qualifications: After earning her doctorate, Dr. Renate Kock successfully completed her habilitation, thereby obtaining the venia legendi in educational sciences. Alongside her work in this field, she has a particular interest in biology, in which she successfully completed the First State Examination for Teaching. Her academic career is shaped by this interdisciplinary focus, in-depth research, and university-level teaching.
- Research and Innovation: A central focus of her work is comparative education and the history of education. Her innovative comparison of progressive education approaches—particularly Freinet pedagogy—with the psychoanalytic foundations of Sigmund Freud has attracted particular scholarly attention. She presented this internationally recognised work, among other occasions, in a specialist lecture at PsyArt in Palermo.
- Religious Education and Scholarly Legacy: In addition to her writings on progressive education, she has made significant contributions to religious education. A substantial part of her work engages with the research of her doctoral supervisor, Fritz Loser. She has taken up his approach to generative-constructive didactics, developed it further in numerous courses, and brought it into current discussions in educational science and school pedagogy.
- Language Services and Translation: Alongside her academic work, Dr. Kock offers professional translation services in French, English, and Italian. She also provides expert interpreting services, particularly in French.
